Fall'14 Trends

LOUIS VUITTON
Fall'14 RTW

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN
Fall'14 RTW

IRIS VAN HERPEN
Fall'14 RTW

What even is there to say about this years fall ready to wear collection? Fall is my favourite season of the year and these collection are amongst a few faves.

Louis Vuitton is bringing a snippet from the past with the use of polo necks/ turtle necks (or whatever you call it), the fitted short shift dresses or the block print skirts, I would call it the moment of the 60s with the modern 2014 touch. Coats are always a big part of my wardrobe, most girls will have a huge collection of shoes but with me it has to be coats, from tench, fur, cocoon or a mannish smart cut, I adore it, I will find a way to own it. Louis Vuitton has completed my love for coats with the figure cut at the waist, sharpness of the collars and the smooth cleanness of the fabric used as well as the lovely touch of a fur collar, I definitely wish to own one of these timeless pieces as a coat.

Alexander McQueen, an all time legend is what I can say, (may my idol rest in peace). Despite missing his unmistakable touch that he left in every piece of garment and outfit that he puts together when he was alive, his legacy can only live on and let others try and recreate his intricate creations. Sarah Burton completes another mission of trying to keep McQueen's legacy alive with her Fall'14 collection. I see her creations to be quite Stuart era inspired with the high necks, dark navy and black colours. The texture and patterns used in the collection is exquisite, very detailed and finely made that suits the fall season very well, giving a cold yet very appealing and makes you question about the collection which in my books is exactly right, if I question why I'm intrigued and why McQueen's work pulls me in then they're doing the exactly right thing.

Iris Van Herpen, the latest designer I've fallen for. Her work is very similar to McQueen's and makes me question why I'm so pulled in and attracted to it. She is a fairly young designer but her designs show much maturity and long years of experience. Herpen's collection for this fall has managed to wow me again with her futuristic style of cords and light fur fabric to recreate magnificent animals within her garments. This collection is all wrapped up perfectly, a consistent mixture of smart, clean cut cape coats and futuristic touch to her collars of her dresses. Herpen's work amazes me every time.

ELLE Collection

Recently bought this bad boy. It was kind of an impulsive buy as it was £7, but it was worth it as it's been inspiring me with designs. This magazine is more of a scrapbook type gather, less of glossy pages like the typical Elle Mag but more hard book paper that I love as it gives the whole collection of photos etc in a book. It contains everything about fashion, art, music and culture that's very suited for my taste. P.s for once it's not just filled with campaign advertisement but actual articles about the art of fashion, latest upcoming fashion models, looking into a fashion journalists wardrobe and of course this seasons latest trends.

Spring Summer '14 Trends

 CELINE
Spring'14 RTW

BURBERRY PRORSUM
Spring'14 RTW

The latest designer trends have arrived. And I'm incredibly impressed with the outcome, you've done well designers. Two of my favourite Spring'14 Ready to Wear shows have to be from Celine and Burberry Prorsum.

Celine has brought us their bold graffiti brush strokes accompanied with rich primary and secondary colours like red, yellow, blue and green. Their Spring'14 collection is very unique and original, perfect for this Spring/Summer as it still gives an elegance that meets an effortless way to look great with the distinctive bold prints and light pleated midi skirts.

Burberry Prorsum, where to even begin. I absolutely adore their lace elegance collection this Spring/Summer. Their use of pastel colours meet delicate and intricate lace is true genius. Burberry Prorsum always bring sophistication to the catwalk and they haven't failed once again. The collection includes smart pencil skirts made from exquisite, unique patterned lace accompanied with a smart cocoon drape coat.

Check out Burberry Prorsum and Celine Spring'14 RTW shows.

Mannequin

Just a few snaps from the photo shoot I did the other day with a mannequin as you know you can always rely on them (I kid). Anyway the photographs are just part of my course work but more fashion campaign work that is suppose to sell and focus on a product. It was inspired by Juergen Teller, one of my favourite photographers who is famous for his bright flash simplistic work for Celine, that is very enchanting in a odd simple way.

Beginning

This is the beginning of it all. I've had a couple of interviews this past month for my Fashion Design course at university, Nottingham Trent and De Montfort. Nottingham Trent is well known and take pride in Fashion but visiting  De Montfort was awful. I really disliked the place, the facilities are brilliant but there was nothing there that made me think I really want to go in, it didn't attract me in anyway.
But with my application being unsuccessful from Nottingham Trent, I'm trying not to be too disheartened by it because completing a foundation course will give me a chance to really build my portfolio and myself as a person.
My true aim is to attend Central Saint Martins and try and be the best as I can be. I've decided to up my game and instead of being disheartened and sit feeling sorry myself I'm going to be the best as I can be.
So, this is how it's going to go. I'm going to sketch whatever ideas I have for designs in a sketch pad where ever I go; definitely need to go to more galleries and eventually go to the next LFW (but maybe not this February); make as many garments as I possibly can during my foundation year and do everything in my power so make sure I get onto one the best Fashion Design courses.
Hopefully I can show the world what I can do.
